PBIS

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports

Harwich Elementary School utilizes a school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program. PBIS is a proactive, system-wide approach to creating and sustaining culturally acceptable behavioral expectations needed within the school. Our school has adopted the motto “Harwich Elementary students are “fin”tastic! Responsible, Respectful, Safe and Ready to Learn.” These guiding principles of good character will be explicitly taught in all school settings (classroom, hallway, recess, bus, cafeteria, etc.), modeled, and discussed during grade level assemblies. Individual, class, and school-wide incentives provide motivation and recognition for students to model these “fin”tastic principles. Student expectations can be found in our Student/Parent Handbook.

We encourage families and caregivers to familiarize themselves with the PBIS Behavior Expectations used at Harwich Elementary School. Consistent terminology and expectations will help our students succeed at school and home
